Thank you Lord!

WordPress Daily Prompt – Thank You: The internet is full of rants. Help tip the balance: today, simply be thankful for something (or someone).

It was as if this prompt above was sent out just for me.

Maybe because it’s easy for most of us to be ungrateful, but who wouldn’t be if all they had to look forward to was a stressful job with difficult co-workers, family members and kids who seemingly go out of their way to challenge us, and bills which multiply exponentially every day?  And let’s not even talk about having to sit in long lines of traffic to and from work five days a week …

All of the above may be true, but as I listen closely to the news from around the world, I am thankful that this little space in the Caribbean where I live is generally peaceful, and a place where people can live their lives without the fear of terrorism or chemical warfare.

As my friends in far away lands begin to comment on experiencing “much cooler weather” I am thankful that my “rock” is devoid of harsh winters, enabling me to enjoy beautiful beaches with golden sand all year round.

Most important of all though, I am thankful that God has blessed me with a job to pay my bills, a car to get me to and fro, a home of my own; and the icing on my blessing cake: the love of a truly wonderful son, super fab family (well, most of the time anyway) and some really great friends.

So is my life perfect? Certainly not!  Yet there is definitely reason to say: Thank you Lord for blessing me with so much goodness!  So what are you thankful for today? I am sure if you think hard enough, you can do like me and come up with something.

  1. I love hearing people be thankful! I’m one of those in the faraway lands, but it hasn’t been too bad yet. Actually the autumn so far has been very warm. I love your sea view! I would love having warmer weather, but I would miss the seasons. I love the autumn!

    1. Hi Susanne, and I think I could say that if I had to live in a ‘faraway’ land I would probably love autumn best of all – not too hot, not too cold (yet) and lots of lovely colours from nature to enjoy. You are blessed!

  2. Yes oh yes, to this post! Growing in gratitude puts the ego out of work and invites peace of mind to take a front seat in our mind and grace to flood into our hearts. Ok so to answer your question about what I’m thankful for today: God waking me up this morning, my hearing and sight, the ability to move limbs instantly, encouragement through His Word and in posts like these, and for the seed of a new way to serve through business…and for sunlight and breath
