Acknowledging the Better Plan

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9

It’s interesting how God speaks to you through other people or situations.  He doesn’t always hit you over the head Himself; He sometimes sends family, friends, co-workers, pastors … and blog posts to do it for Him.  So I sat up and took note when I read a post entitled Because I Said So by Kate Bortell.  Here is an excerpt:

“God has the last word. He actually has the first word and every other word in between come to think of it. And we need to live with it. And not just live with it, praise Him for it. Because that is what we are told to do. And He surely knows what He’s doing.”

God knows every single thing about me, including my topsy turvy weight, greying hair, lack of anger management skills, my fight with procrastination.  He knows my deepest dreams and my scariest fears.  Yet He loves me and looks after me.  He listens while I complain and He listens when I praise.  He understands when I’m frustrated and He comforts me when I cry – because He is God.  My take-away nugget is this: God knows what He is doing, especially when we don’t.  And as Kate ended her post, let’s remember this:

“But don’t forget, even the depth of his Love for us is beyond our understanding. And though his actions have purpose that sometimes only He understands, I believe they are always done out of love first.”

God has the better plan for my life; I just need to let go and let Him take the wheel.

  1. Hi Gale! God has brought that scripture from Isaiah to my mind several times in the last week or so. Thank you for writing this because sometimes we need to be reminded just how deep His love is for us, especially in tough times when we don’t understand what’s going on in our lives. You’re right, “God knows what He’s doing.” Blessings!
