Just how cool are you?

The title of the post drew me in: “I used to be a Mean Girl”.  How mean was mean?  And if they used to be mean what or who are they now?  Sounded like it was going to be an interesting read.  Rheyna the author definitely had my attention.

I entered her door and walked together as we covered the insecurities of being young and not fitting in with the super fabulous ‘in crowd’ but wanting so much to be liked that we were willing to do anything. It was a sad story; funny too, but mainly very sad although we are told the goal was achieved i.e. “I finally had the attention I had wanted for years from the cool girls and yet I felt terrible.”

I was happy that the lesson had been learnt in the end but hurt that I had to agree with Rheyna: there are still lots of mean people living among us today. You know the kind.  The ones who judge others while whispering behind their backs or take it to another level by making silly belittling remarks for everyone to hear … just to be a part of a super “cool” group.

Click on the title to read Rheyna’s honest yet thought-provoking post I used to be a Mean Girl – because it’s cool to fit in, cool to be popular and cool to be the most beautiful gal or handsome guy in the crowd … but it’s definitely NOT cool to be mean.

Excellent food for thought and something to share with others, especially our impressionable teenaged children.

Thanks Rheyna!  You rock! 🙂
