If you feel it, then do it!

Teenage girl praying outdoors at twilight. Shallow DOF.

This call-to-action caught my attention from a devotion I recently came across:

“When you sense the Spirit telling you to pray for someone, pray for them! Make a note of the names of people you’ve been praying for. You may be amazed when you learn that in that very moment, God used you to change a life!”

Can you relate? I can for sure. Think back to the number of times you felt a sudden feeling out of nowhere to pick up the phone and call someone or pray for them. You hesitate, asking yourself how come that person just popped into your thoughts just like that. It seems as though it’s out of the blue but it’s never ‘just like that’ because with God there are no coincidences.

Our Lord knows exactly what He’s doing when He lays someone on your heart. How do I know? Because ‘just like that’ the person on the other end of the line says: “How did you know this was exactly what I needed to hear??!! I asked God to send me a sign and you called … amazing!”

It’s happened time and time again, and now I do not hesitate when I get that spidery sixth sense prompting me to do something. My advice? The next time you get a very strong feeling you can’t explain to reach out and touch someone, forget the wondering and strategising, get out there and just do it. There are many many people out there waiting to be loved and encouraged – by you!

And my final nugget: it’s a new year, let’s make it happen!

  1. Indeed. I had a former co-worker reach out to me recently on Facebook, indicating that my son had been on her mind lately and she felt lead to pray for him. He is definitely going through a struggle right now, so I appreciated it.
