How strong is your belief?

“Be sure you put your feet in the right place, then stand firm.”
Abraham Lincoln

Do you get mixed up sometimes as you try to walk this journey known as life? Do you find it hard to do the ‘right thing’ when faced with a hard decision? Or maybe we should phrase these questions a different way.

When having to make a decision do you refer to God’s word, pray and then make a decision based on the Word OR do you go ahead and do something different – because otherwise, people are going to give you a really hard time so it’s better to just ‘go with the flow’?

I admit I find life today not easy at all. I didn’t think it was fair when I was laid off; I didn’t think it was fair when my mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and for sure I didn’t think it was fair that I was now a divorce statistic.  Life is not fair but does this mean I should strike out and be angry, use profanity to express my feelings or hate the world as a result of this perceived unfairness?

And let’s not even begin to talk about right vs. wrong.  For example, if you as a Christian strongly believe same-sex marriages are wrong but it’s your job to issue marriage licences to same-sex couples as well as straight couples what do you do? Stand up or sit down? Check in or check out? Compromise your beliefs or hang tight? Issue or not issue? Well why not check out the story below … and then tell me what you would do.  In the meantime, I am personally praying for God to give me the strength and fortitude to do what is right when I am called to such a public testing of my faith, because I admit my mind might be willing but my inner heart/soul weak.

Earlier this summer, the Supremes decided that same-sex marriage is a constitutional right in all 50 states. But, a county clerk in Kentucky isn’t so into that, and is refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.  Read more …

“No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path.”

“So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.”
Romans 7:21-25 (NIV)
