I’ve decided: I’m giving it all up

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewellery or fine clothes.  Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.
1 Peter 3:3-4 (NIV)

My inner self doesn’t look too good right now.  If there was an outward translation of the way I feel on the inside you would see a terrible bad hair day covering a face with no make-up and featuring a deep scowl; not very attractive looking in spite of my fine clothes or nice jewellery (and just for the record my hair, clothes and jewellery look fine – as they usually do).

In my whining and complaining about unreasonable people who do not have any clue as to what they are talking about yet make erroneous insinuations about you, I come across this verse which speaks to the unfading beautify of a gentle quiet spirit.  I sit up and take note.  I have to; God is trying to get my attention.

I pause … I sigh … then, I decide.  I decide to release all of the angst and anger I currently hold in my heart towards others as well as situations over which I have absolutely no control.  I decide to release lies and rumours and all unwarranted perceptions held of me by others.  I decide to release this muddled mess known as life and look for ways of supporting my vision for a gentle quiet spirit.

I’m going to give it all up to God.  He’s much bigger than me so let Him deal with all of this stupid luggage I’m carrying around in my mind and body.  I’m going to ask him to let His favor rain down and clean all the gunk out of me; because He’s the man 🙂

I’ve decided …wish me luck.

  1. This is awesome Gale! I was just discussing with a friend how hard it is dealing with difficult people, especially when those people are “Chrisitans.” You’re right to choose to walk away from that fight and I’m trying to learn this myself. I cannot change anyone but me. I will leave the rest to God. Great post!

    1. You are so right about ‘difficult Christians’ vs. ‘difficult all other human beings’ but we are in this together. I’ll pray for you and you can pray for me while God continues to cover us with His grace. Thanks for commenting!

  2. Wow, God’s definitely speaking!!! And I am listening. This spoke to me as I have recently been doing some releasing of my own and confirmed that I’m on the right track of something I am working on. God bless you and enjoy the blessings that will pour down over you.

    1. Thanks for commenting and good luck with your project. Hope everything works out well but I am sure it will, with God’s amazing touch upon all that you do. Be blessed!
