“Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.”
Isaiah 43:1-2 (NLT)

This verse was on my mind; a lot. Read it slowly and see what I mean. It’s so heavy with facts (I have called you by name, you are mine) and promises (you will not drown, you will not be burned up). Guess this was the kind of hope Daniel held on to when he was thrown into the lion’s den and the fiery furnace. He was fully aware God knew him by name and more importantly that He was right there in the midst of everything. Daniel may not have been able to see God but he knew he was not standing in those situations alone.
As many of us are torn and shredded through to the core by life today, I am encouraging you to hold on to the words above. God named you and He knows you – personally. And notice He didn’t say IF you go through rivers of difficulty but WHEN. Because the fact remains that life is filled with challenges yet that’s exactly when you need to be assured you will not drown in that river or burn in the fire. Better yet, the fire will not even consume you! Do I hear an amen?
Last but not least, here is one more important thought for you below, again from Isaiah (65:24) where we are told:
“Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear.”
Your Father is hearing you; you don’t even have to speak. He knows what’s in your heart. Be still and listen for His voice in the gentle wind – HE IS WITH YOU. Happy Monday, and as God holds your hand, remember to have a great week.
