This Journey Called Life

THE JOURNEY
Life is like a long journey
Over mountains, valleys and plains
A tide of emotional feelings
Of joy and sorrow and pain.
We walk through a world of exploiters
Who never have time to care
Yet we pause on our long hard trek
To reach out, to touch and to share.
In spite of the deep dark traps
Which hide along the path
We know that the end of the rainbow
Will offer rewards that last.
Relinquish then not the sweet nectar of life
For fear you miss out on its gains
While harsh as a thorn, yet soft as a rose
We will cherish the walk through the rain.
And so we prevail through the pain and despair
Trusting in a magical light
A star it may be, or even the sun
That leads the way out of the night.
Barbadian mother and lover of laughter; story teller and best-selling author; happy to follow God's lead and to live my mantra: "you've gotta be a rainbow in the lives of others when it rains."
