It really was a great doughnut from the very first bite!
“Each year on the first Friday in June, people participate in National Doughnut or Donut Day. This day celebrates the doughnut and honors the Salvation Army Lassies, the women that served doughnuts to soldiers during WWI.
In 1917, the original “Salvation Army Doughnut” was first served by the ladies of the Salvation Army. It was during WWI that the Salvation Army Lassies went to the front lines of Europe. Home cooked foods, provided by these brave volunteers, were a morale boost to the troops.” Read more
The most interesting thing about this sweet evanescent moment in time was that the little doughnut took me all of five minutes to eat and even though it 100% filled my tummy so I was no longer hungry, it also 100% obliterated all of the hard work I had put into staying on track with my diet. Yikes!
Should I be happy or sad? I couldn’t decide but tell me: how would you feel? And what are you eating today? Did you know about National Donut Day?

Disclaimer: No, I am NOT really a donut lover but travelling and spending lots of time in an airport in Miami will definitely make a girl crave calories 🙂

I had a Krispy Kreme Birthday Cake flavored donut today! So good! I heard some places were giving away free donuts but I bought mine before I knew it was Donut Day!
