Aren’t my flowers gorgeous? My garden seems to be in overdrive but I’m definitely not complaining. So how’s your Summer going? Tell me, and here’s wishing everyone a truly great week; let’s start by smelling a pretty flower or two or three every single morning!

“We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature – trees, flowers, grass – grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence… We need silence to be able to touch souls.” ~ Mother Teresa
“Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul.” ~ Luther Burbank
“You’re only here for a short visit. Don’t hurry, don’t worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way.” ~ Walter Hagen
Sometimes life can be so much of a struggle that we get bogged down in trying to live it. There are jobs to get to, projects with deadlines, bills to pay, children to raise, charities to support, friends and family to spend time with.
It is easier I guess to do what is necessary or urgent while putting other stuff off until tomorrow. But remember: tomorrow never comes and then we die anyway.
So let us heed the thoughts of this post and truly appreciate life for what it is: an awesomely amazing gift from God. It can be done.
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” 1 Chronicles 16:34 (NIV)

Many of us have a lot going on right now in our lives. You may be unemployed in spite of sending out hundreds of job applications. You may be living paycheck to paycheck because it’s hard to make ends meet due to inflation. You may be tired of going over the same thing with your children because it’s hard to keep talking and talking and talking. You may be tired of dealing with the same back-stabbing co-workers (or fellow church goers – because you will find some of these people in church too) day in and day out. You may simply be tired of being tired.
BUT there is much to be thankful for! There’s life, health, friendships, family, working bodies, eyes that see, arms that can hug and hold … you get the picture. I have learnt that one of the most powerful things a person can do is to give thanks to God while in the middle of overwhelming stressful situations. The peace in the midst of the storm cannot be explained nor can I really describe the calm that embraces you as a result. All I can recommend is that you try it for yourself and let me know how you feel afterwards.
