Every year my beautiful country Barbados celebrates being independent. On the surface, this means that we are no longer a British colony, being ruled or led by Britain. Underneath that surface, it means we have successfully worked for and won the right to run our own affairs and to look after our people as best we can.
“Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act. Do not say to your neighbour, “Come back tomorrow and I’ll give it to you” when you already have it with you.”
~ Proverbs 3:27-28 (NIV)
“A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”
~ Proverbs 11:25 (NIV)
The Clara Lionel Foundation. It’s something that means so much to Rihanna but yet gets buried in other trivia e.g. her current boyfriend, clothing (or lack thereof) and latest sighting out on the town. This video shows us the other side of beauty and talent aka big big heart.
But do you have a personal cause? What or who makes you go above and beyond the norm or your comfort zone to help another human being? These are good questions because one of God’s best gifts to us after His amazing unconditional love is each other.
This year my little island of Barbados will celebrate 50 years of independence on November 30, 2016. That’s quite a milestone and even though we’ve come so far there’s so much further to go!
Home of Rihanna, golden beaches, aqua marine seas and beautiful weather all year round, there’s really not that much not to like about this rock – and if you don’t believe me, here’s why one visitor believes ‘Barbados Rocks, Barbados Rules‘.
But in the midst of the pomp and celebrations, I wanted to take the time to share this beautiful video which was created locally just for our 50th anniversary … enjoy and if you haven’t added visiting Barbados to your bucket list now is the time to do so 🙂
